30% of medical and health services managers work in private hospitals. 16% work in physicians' offices or in nursing care facilities. Others work in home healthcare services, federal government healthcare facilities, state or local and military facilities, outpatient care centers, insurance carriers, or community care facilities for the elderly.
Healthcare administration is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations over the next decade, as the healthcare industry continues to grow and diversify.
Health practitioners' offices, general medical and surgical hospitals, home healthcare services, and outpatient care centers are expected to provide especially good opportunities for managers in the near future, as these facilities grow in prominence in the American healthcare system.
Hospitals, however, will continue to employ the greatest number of medical and services managers for at least the next decade.
