  • One ohm is the resistance value through which one volt remains a current of one ampere.

  • A resistor has maximum working voltage and current that if exceeded, may change or damage the resistor by overheating or possibly burning it up.

  • Resistors can be used for door locks, timing circuits, remote starts, or to discharge a stiffening capacitor.

  • A series resistor can be used to regulate the speed of DC motors.
