Allergies can be described as the body’s overreaction to a substance that is effectively harmless to the body. The body views the new substance as an invader and reacts by releasing defenses in over abundance. This causes the symptoms that are commonly seen with Allergies.
Usually the potential to have Allergies is genetic. However, just because a parent has an Allergy, that does not mean his or her child will definitely have the Allergy. It just means that the possibility of the child having the Allergy is there. Also, if a person is found to be allergic to one thing, it is likely that he or she is Allergic to other things as well.
Some of the more common airborne Allergies include dust mites, pollen, mold, pet dander, and cockroaches. All of these substances produce allergens which is what the body views as an invader once it enters the body.
