  • Ruggedized computers are just like regular computers, in this case laptops or notebooks. They have standard processors, wireless network capabilities that are usually built-in to the system.

  • Being that they are used in tough situations, the internal hard drives are mounted in polymer compounds that absorb shock. This protects the drive from harm or danger.

  • Most ruggedized computers have keyboards that have large keys so you can type on them with your gloves on. They have all the keys conveniently placed to allow for easy access to them.

  • The case is tough and rugged. It is shock resistant, dust proof, and water resistant. Most ruggedized computers can handle temperature conditions ranging from -22 to 130 degrees. The PC Card slot is very accessible so you can add data storage or wireless devices.

  • The laptops of ruggedized computers use rechargeable NiMH battery pack for 16 hours of use.
