An offshore investment is an investment which is held in a country other than the home country of the investor. This is typically done in order to gain a higher rate of return on one’s investment and to gain potential tax advantages. Offshore investing, while it has had a disreputable past, generally associated with illegal and questionable activities, is becoming a more mainstream way of investing throughout the world.
